Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. (Lev. 26:4)

My country, after experiencing Typhoon Gener has faced the great  Monsoon rain which caused great floods in several areas in Central Luzon. Now, another low pressure is set to test the Philippines-typhoon Helen which will cause heavy rains and great winds.

Sometimes, we wonder why this is happening to us. We look for something or someone to blame without thinking about ourselves and what damage we have contributed to such calamities.

In life, we also experience rain. Even Christians who have already come to the knowledge of God are not exempted to life's typhoons and rains. And we question, "why does God allow this to happen."

God's mind are way beyond our perceptions. He is omniscient and he knows ETERNITY. In life, God sometimes allow heavy rains to pour for several reasons:

  • To evaluate us. We wouldn't know what we are capable of unless we are tested. Exams and interviews are used in school and recruitment centers to determine how able we are. Rains also come to test how strong our faith in God is.
  • To strengthen us. Children don't get sick when they bathe in the rain, but we get colds when we're outside, forgot to bring our umbrella and it suddenly rains! Sometimes, it can make our body immune to getting sick. Same in life, trials strengthen us.

Whatever it is that we're going through right now, let's not give. Let's fully trust on God. He promised a rainbow after every storm.
