Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS) 2015

Kids will always love summer vacation. It’s the time of the year where they can visit their relatives in the provinces or play outside more and some would also go to summer clinics.

Summer time is also a time for us to conduct a Daily Vacation Bible School in our church. Last week was a very busy week for us, we had more than 120 students who enrolled on our 5-day DVBS in the church.

This year's DVBS team. Our team is composed of dedicated young people who volunteered as teachers and staff.

Through every twist, turn, and dive, Colossal Coaster World VBS challenged kids to face their fears and trust God in its everyday theme along with inculcating the wonderful message about God's grace and Salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. There’s excitement around every curve as kids learned that God has given them a spirit of power, love, and sound judgment.

It was such an amazing experience and it’s always fun to see kids who are so carefree, outgoing and very eager to learn. God is great because he met all of our needs for this year’s DVBS. We hope that we can all follow up these kids through Sunday Schools and cell groups.

I was just so blessed by this 5 day activity. I was blessed by the lives of the teachers & staff who volunteered, I was blessed by the kids, I was blessed by God's grace (he really makes a way and makes everything possible), I was blessed by how I was able to manage to attend everyday even though I have a job at night, I was blessed by the result of this activity - it's overwhelming and we were so tired but overjoyed during graduation.

Here are some of this year's DVBS photos:

ProdReview: Organic Baby Wipes

Last week, our friends in CKMJ Greenovation Inc. sent over a set of organic baby wipes for us to try. I’d take these as late birthday presents for Nate :). I was so excited to try it out and this product never failed me.

What’s on the package:
      -          1 Organic baby wipes (80’s)
-          1 Organic baby wipes (30’s)
-          4 Organic baby wipes (20’s)
-          Jewel  Tone maternity skin care product

All about Organic baby wipes:
Organic baby wipes are infused with organic aloe vera that’s known for its anti-inflammatory and inti-bacterial properties which means that it helps prevent nappy rash.

Organic baby wipes contains no harsh chemicals and are hypoallergenic – NO PARABEN, NO ALCOHOL, NO CHLORINE, NO HARSH CHEMICALS. Its products are also 100% biodegradable, it’s pretty cool!

What I can say:
What I love so much about this product is that it smells really good! The wipes that I buy usually for Nate are unscented because I was under the impression that scented wipes may contain alcohol but this one doesn’t. I love the smell so much; I get tempted to smell it from time to time! Lol!

Organic baby wipes is gentle and Nate never had any skin reactions to it. And true to its words – it doesn’t cause any rashes on Nate as well.

This product aims to give the gentlest baby wipes to our little ones and I think this product is really great! This is actually softer than Nate’s previous baby wipes.

Would I recommend this product! Certainly, this is a nice and great scented wipes, I have no reason to not recommend other moms to try it on their kids.

Where to buy:
I’m honestly not sure if Organic baby wipes are now available in SM stores or any local stores but Organic baby wipes can be purchased online through Lazada.com.ph

Disclaimer: I got the products for free to try via Mommy Bloggers Philippines and just paid Php 100 to have the products shipped to me. All views and opinions are 100% of my own. Thanks MBP and CKMJ Greenovation Inc!

Mother's Day 2015

Mother's day is a special day for all moms. Before I became a mother, it was just a time for me to make sure I greet my mother, my friends and relatives who are moms but now, I am one of the people they greet! Last Sunday was my second mother's day.

Melisa, ZD's mother invited me to go to SM Fairview with our toddlers to celebrate mother's day. At first, I declined because we were tired from Nate's birthday and dedication on Saturday, plus, that was not on my budget! haha. But later, I agreed, it's mother's day anyway and we want to take a break from taking care of our kids (or so we thought) by bringing them to a play store.
Quick lunch and chat. ZD just woke up and Nate is sleeping with mouth open wide. lol.
In the morning, we went to church and were recognized by the youth with all the other mothers during our worship service. The kids created a dedication card for their mothers and those who didn't have their mamas with them, gave their cards to us instead. Ptr. Boni, prayed for all the mothers and we felt so relieved. We also had a get together lunch in the church after the service.

This was never planned but God arranged everything together for us. Our friends, Rowel and Hazel, happened to visit the church and worshiped with us on Sunday (they're our brethren from Davao) together with their son Matt (magkaedad sila ng mga junakis namin). Matt is just about a month or 2 older than ZD and Nate and it's the first time saw him. Melisa invited them and they happily went with us in SM Fairview.

We had a quick lunch while our kids were still asleep and went immediately to blocks located at the lower ground floor in SM Fairview. Blocks is a play kiosk my sister Beb and I discovered when we went to SM earlier this month. Nate had a great time during his first visit so he went back with a few friends again.

We were happy to see our kids enjoying their stay in blocks. Kung happy sila mukhang mas masaya talaga kami para sa kanila. They invaded the small place, lol! There were more kids now than we were there in May 2nd. But  we still had a great time!

Blocks in SM Fairview isn't very huge. It's a kiosk  but is not an exception to being a child friendly place. They have a little slide, a table, cars, TV, legos and many toys. I think it's perfect for toddlers like Nate because it's just

Nate's Football-themed birthday

Here's the details to Nate's birthday/dedication. Thanks to all who helped make this a success! :)

Inspiration:
Back when our little Nate was still young, I was already starting to plan for a theme for him. I then thought about my husband, Dane who was a football goal keeper when he was in High School and told him I wanted a football themed design on his 1st birthday (and of course Dane agreed without any hesitation! :) Thanks to Google and Pinterest, we were able to gather football themed ideas for a DIY party.

The team:
I was blessed to have my sister and a friend that lived with us help me do all the lettering and cuttings. Good thing it's summer so they didn't have any schedule at school. I planned the designs and ask them to help me out. During decoration time, it was the entire family that cleaned the place and decorated the church. A church mate also helped us cook the food.
People behind the success - our family (there are 3 others who helped and not in the photo: Sarah, Ate Mylene and Ate Tata)
The Place:
The event was held in the church where we attend Sunday worships but we did the decorations ourselves - me with the help of Dane and I's family. We made the banners and the lettering. And I've asked help from a friend good at Photoshop to layout my Nate's birthday & dedication invitation. He worked on the design and we worked on the invitation envelopes and had them printed. He also worked on the layout of the birthday giveaways for adults - a key chain. And we worked on the giveaway bags for kids using a brown bag.
Half Time Meal Area
There are 5 stations on event venue:
1. Half-time meal - where we had all the food served including some desserts.
2. Nate's field - where I placed his photos, some of his toys and books, scrapbook with his ultrasound, pregnancy test results, developmental milestones, first tickets and all. Also had 2 of his photos on a frame and I placed the laptop at the center for a slideshow of his photos (I unfortunately didn't a clear photo of it).
3. Giveaway bleachers - where we placed all the giveaways
4. Gifts corner - for all the presents.
5. Sweets dug-out - where we put all the cakes and our DIY cupcakes. I loved all the DIY stuff we made, but if I were to choose which I like the most, it's the DIY cupcakes and the cupcake stand.
Nate's Field and Giveaway Bleachers area
The Stage:
We wanted it say it's his birthday and his dedication but we don't want to just say "Birthday and Dedication" so I wrote "Elnathan @ one" and a bible verse about Samuel being dedicated to the Lord. I made the lettering (but no, I'm not good at lettering, I just traced those, lol!) and my sister helped cutting them out. We made all the banners where I used some of his monthly photos.

The Cakes & Cupcakes:
Since cupcakes are so expensive when purchased, I decided to DIY it. The problem is I don't know how to bake! lol! So I made a trick and a Lemon-Square dream cakes, made the icing (with just butter, confectioner's sugar and vanilla as ingredients). We bought crinkles and put them on top (that way they don't know that we're not good at designing cupcake frosting! lol!). My sister and I also made the cupcake stand. We also made those football sticks to put on top of the cupcakes. Then I bought a red ribbon cake to top it all, our original plan was a football fondant cake but it was also expensive so I backed out (I'm so kuripot!). Then I bought a Goldilocks cake too.

The Games:
We had the most common games for adults and children during reception but it was fun. We had paper dance, trip to Jerusalem, etc. The photos are taken by a very talented church mate, her name is Joy and she never failed to take wonderful pictures!

Nate's 1st Birthday and Dedication

Last week has been a very busy (and frustrating at some point because of my Bayantel DSL intermittent connection) week for us. We were all tired but happy at the end of the week at the outcome of Nate's 1st birthday and dedication day on May 9th.

We've decided to do a football themed party for his 1st birthday & dedication celebration. I'm not sure if I was able to completely emphasized the theme but I think it turned out pretty well (see for yourself and tell me if it justified the theme, lol!).

To those who don't know what a dedication is, it's just like "Christening" the children, the only difference is that it's presided by a Pastor instead of a priest and there's no water baptism involved. The child is just prayed over and dedicated to the Lord. The same happened back in the bible times with Jesus and the prophet Samuel when they were dedicated to the Lord at their very young age.

OK, going back to Nate's birthday, we started late (as usual). I've originally announced a 3pm start date in the invitations with the intention that we could start an hour after but we were late for I think about 1:15 mins. We started with singing children songs and solemn songs then proceeded with the dedication proper. We had an inspiring message from our dear Ptr. Boni and we were all reminded and encouraged to do our best to raise our children the way God wanted us to be. We, the parents and the godparents vowed to help rear the child to the knowledge of God. I always love dedications (kahit dati pa na ninang lang ako).

The kids rendered a song I taught them it's entitled "More Like Christ", I love this song so much because it taught us to strive to be more and more like Christ.

Here are some of the many photos on Nate's 1st birthday and dedication. These are taken my of course, my very own Norbie Joy Lanzaderas and I'm telling you, this girl is really skilled and amazing at taking photos. They're all very lovely. (Btw, Nate wasn't very cooperative the entire time, he was fussy, overwhelmed and uncomfortable but it was still a great experience).
