2016 in a Nutshell: Our 5 P’s of 2016

Time to say “goodbye” to 2016 and “hello” to the New Year that lies ahead! Before this year ends, I would like to look back and thank Him for all the wonderful things that he has given us this year.

This year isn’t perfect like all the other years that passed but as I start counting the blessings, I am reminded that God has given us more than enough. And to thank Him for His goodness is one of the many things that I can do to give back our praises to Him. Here are the 5 highlights of 2016 for me and my family.

28th on the 28th: 28 Personal Questions Answered on my Birthday! ♥

Guess what? It's my 28th birthday!!! Yay! Thank you Lord! Wow! Where's all my teenage years? haha.

(I've So I've been thinking, I should do something I've never done before: a few personal questions (28 questions to be exact this time).

Wow, I don't know if I should be happy or sad that I'm a year older (and I hope wiser *insert grin here*), nevertheless, I am thankful for God's guidance and blessings throughout the year. So here are 28 questions about myself, I got this list from The 50 questions posted on The Fab Files and just picked 28 questions out of it.

1. What are your nicknames? What do you prefer to be called?
My mother calls me "Len" but I like my nickname spelled either "Lyn" or "Lynn". Most people call me "Nilyn" or "Ate Nilyn" and I don't have any problems with that. :D

29 Reasons Why Hubby is L♥ve

Today, Dane celebrates his 29th birthday, let the online party begin! Just kidding! *A moment of silence for all LDR couples like us, lol!*

This is his 2nd birthday away from us and even though I am a bit sad that we don’t get to celebrate our birthdays together, I know that someday, he’ll be back home and we’ll be able to celebrate our special occasions together.

Along with his 29th birthday, I decided to make a list of why I love him. These are not the only reasons why but since it’s his 29th birthday, what better number to use than 29, right?
So, without further ado, here’s my list:

What I Love About Crepeman Café SM San Mateo

Last Saturday, I was one of the few Rizal bloggers invited to visit and try Crepeman Café in SM San Mateo. My very first crepe experience was in Love Desserts in Pearl Drive but my experience wasn’t good. I didn’t like it. Little did I know, that was just one of the many flavors that I can enjoy. Thanks to Crepeman Café, I now know there are sooo many different types and flavors to enjoy your crepes!

Here’s what to expect from Crepeman Café (and the reasons why I love this place!).

4 Married Years

It feels like it was just yesterday! I can still remember how I crammed because of so many things on our wedding day and now it's been 4 years already!

Our wedding wasn't perfect, like the rest but it's always one of the wonderful and happy days of my life. I thank God everyday for the man He gave me whom I could call a husband for the rest of my life.

What's in My Gallery?: First 10 Recent Photos on my Phone

Today I’m like, “I need to post something na hindi pinag-iisipan!” Just something I used to post before.

A few months back, I post weekly “kwento” on my blog (my WAHMA-RAMA series). That what was before I started to do “other things” that I think are of the same importance as blogging. This was the reason why I had to learn to balance everything, which means I needed to give up some of my blog series topics.

Today, I really miss just blogging something “easy”. Something that doesn’t need any researching. Something personal, something “funny”? It’s December so we should be posting happy posts anyway, right?

So what are the first 10 photos on my gallery, you may ask? I’ll show you that in a bit. This includes my most recent photos. Not just photos taken from my camera phone, but including the recent downloads and screenshots. Let’s see what I have here! Haha. I hope this is interesting. I don’t check my gallery often and there are lots of times that I don’t feel like taking pictures!

Adlib: I just checked my phone for about 10 minutes to see the photos and man, these are not good ones! LOL!

It was a bad idea! I thought I didn't have recent selfies! haha!
So I numbered them down. There are some that were just duplicates because I downloaded them, then posted in IG, then took a screenshot, etc. So I won't keep on reposting that (that will make this post even more boring, haha!). The first photo (before Dane) was not numbered to because that's a screenshot of my gallery (the photo above).  And in this post, I will also not include the video beside #5.

OK, let's start! (now I'm ashamed! lol).

1. THE ULTIMATE CRUSH.
He sent this to me earlier today while we were chatting. So yes, my love, you're first on the list! haha!

Hola December!

Hello there! I’ve been off blogging for the past few days. I’ve been busy doing other things. Something new I’ve never tried doing before. I’m enjoying it and I’m gonna tell you what it is when I see the outcome of it. :)

Wow! Where did time go? Last year, I posted about December and my anticipated schedules for that month. I can’t not do that this year! Lol. So, here’s what’s in store for us for this last month of the year (and my future excuses on being off blogging! Haha).

Online Musical Instrument Store Made Available!

I can’t say I’m excellent when it comes to playing musical instruments. In fact, of all musical instruments, I can only play well with guitars. The rest, nah! I can play a little (just a little, really) keyboard.

However, being married to someone also musically inclined helps me not forget about my love for music. Although I don’t really do something to improve my skills in guitar as that’s really not a priority at this time, because of the ministry that my husband has in the church, my love for music has never left me.

"Let Kids Be Kids" VS "Because I Said So"

One day, after I logged out from work, I received a thought provoking email from Google Alerts about an article from Parent Herald that talks about the 2 major parenting approaches. This really made me think about my parenting approach to Nate and I thought I should really share this with other parents.

In our current world where people will always have something to say, we all probably have an opinion about parenting, whether we have kids or not. There are main parenting approaches that most of us already know – The “because I said so” and the “let kids be kids approach”.

CLAG Women's Officers' Weekend Retreat

After our successful CLAG women’s fellowship, we, officers, finally had the chance to retreat and have fun before another fellowship comes – the Kid’s Camp, which we’ll also help organize. Unfortunately, our PIO and secretary didn’t make it due to schedule conflicts so it was just us: pres, v-pres, secretary and treasurer that made it.

There were 7 of us altogether, plus 3 little kiddos during this time. And for all the joy ride and chuckles we had during the trip, I am super thankful to God (most of all) for the experience, and to our president for their generosity. :)

Behold, the photos…

3 Germs We Can Get From Unsanitized Toilets

Nobody wants a dirty restroom; it’s the least thing that we want in our household. Unfortunately though, not all household has access to a clean and sanitized toilets. Here are 3 of the common germs that one can get from unsanitized toilets.

Musical Instruments That You Can Introduce to Your Kids at a Very Early Age

MUSIC… Oh… What will the world be without music?!
Music gives happiness to the soul, it heals a broken heart, it reminds us of our loved ones, it takes us to a completely different dimension, it’s our partner against boredom! Life is just incompletely without music, isn’t it?

Everybody loves music, specially here in the Philippines where most people are into music. I know! Videoke everywhere! lol. There are so many things that music can do, not just for adults but also for infants, toddlers and kids – it’s for everyone!

Here’s a few of the many benefits that our children can get out of music:

Our Nu Skin Experience: The Yays and The Nays

Last Saturday, I got invited for a “free pamper” session in one of the  Nu Skin we stayed at the place for about 2 or 3 hours where we were introduced to different product brands. These were the things that we did during the visit:

Holiday Comes Early to SM San Mateo! ♥

Last Saturday, we dropped by SM San Mateo as my sister needed to buy school supplies for their school project. While we were there, I also decided to buy a few things for myself. Nate loves to play when in the mall, he loooves the elevator so much, he's willing to stay on there for hours!

While there, we noticed the mall stage was all prepped up! There were kids doing some activities. We didn't really stopped and asked as it was getting late. Now I know what it was about!

The holiday spirit is in the air and shoppers are in for tons of sparkling surprises as SM City San Mateo roll out fun activities for kids this holiday season.

Groupon Coupons for Our Love for Coupon Codes!

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post, all opinions are my own.

With the holidays coming, we have so many things on our list that we want to be able to purchase for our families, loved ones and our godsons/goddaughters. I have to be honest for the past week, I’ve been purchasing stuff that are not on my budget – I am so guilty of this. Some of them, I need for work, and some I thought can be great gifts for my loved ones and friends.

Tips for a Healthier, More Active Working Millenials

PHILIPPINES, October 27, 2016 – Herbalife Nutrition, a global nutrition company, has released the findings from its Asia Pacific Millennials At Work Survey, which revealed that Filipino millennials are adapting a healthy, active lifestyle, however, most believe their current workplace environment prevents them from doing so.

While the survey conducted reveals that more Filipino millennials (yes, most of us are part of this group, lol) are engaging in regular physical activities outside work, they find it difficult to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle in the modern workplace.

Sundayvotion: An Unloving Heart

This is part of my post about our CLAG Women's Fellowship. I just think that I need to post a separate post for this one as I think that it's a really good reminder for us (specially for me), as we can get too busy with the things that we do sometimes.

Praise God for the life of our speaker, Ma’am Vholet Nabus, for preparing a wonderful lecture that was perfectly fit for us. We talked about the different signs that we no longer love the Lord. You see, most sins don’t happen overnight, most of it’s gradual, it most often start with a “little compromise” that continues on and before we know it, we already fall into the enemy’s traps! So during this fellowship, we were reminded to be alert. We needed to be watchful to the signs that we no longer love the Lord. Our lecturer said that, we no longer love the Lord when we start to become:

4 Foods That Cause Weight Gain

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I am currently doing workouts to lose my belly fats. It isn’t easy and it’s frustrating sometimes. Patience is very important (and I need TONS of that) to keep going.

I lessened my rice intake to almost like 75%, I eat A LOT before I started my home workout. Now, I can say that I am on my way to a flatter tummy (and hopefully and abs, lol!) but I’m still a work in progress. I try to choose healthy foods instead but there are also times that I can’t keep that goal.
We often think that eating healthy food is enough—therefore we expect a tremendous result for our weight loss. However, there are healthy foods that when eaten in huge amounts will only cause weight gain.

Here’s the top 4 list of foods to eat in moderation when you are on a “journey to a flatter tummy” program.

Wish For A Brother So Dear

My brother so dear, you may not be near;
But know that I care and I’ll always be here.
You'are another year older, and no one’s gonna bother
But I know inside, you want to aim higher.

Life is full of surprises, that you should expect;
It will try to turn you into pieces, you have to be brave.
Don’t forget we’re here for you, we’ll help you in any aspect;
And God is there to guide and guard as long as you live.

Don’t worry about the future, let it worry about itself.
Enjoy every moment of your life and value yourself.
Seek God’s presence and you will not be lost.
Submit to Him your plans, you have nothing to boast.

With all my heart I wish you joy and gladness,
And a day that’s filled with happiness!
You are in our hearts today and always,
We love you in all your ways!

Belated happy birthday, brother dear! ♥

4 Things that I Like About Blogapalooza Horizons 2.0

Months ago, we’ve already marked our 11.05 calendar for this year’s SECOND blogapalooza! Since I didn’t make it on the 1st Blogapalooza this year, I made sure that I’d make it on the 2nd Blogapalooza and I’m happy I made it!

Blogapalooza is a whole day event, so I was so torn on whether I should be part of the “early birds” or the “late comers”, lol. Or if I should go there early, leave around noon and just come back around 5 or 6 PM. I had to weigh my options. I wish I could stay the entire day but that's just not possible for now.

What You Need to Know About Hair Chemicals

Hair chemicals nowadays are everywhere. We use some of them everyday to keep our hair look nice and lovely. Unknowingly, sometimes, we put harmful chemicals on our hair thus resulting to general conditions such as migraine, nausea and skin rashes. The symptoms may be quickly attributed to stress but if you look closer to that hair product you’re using, you’ll be surprise to find the culprit.

Popularity does not equate to safety, some popular brands sold in the market are loaded with mildly toxic chemicals that may be harmful in prolonged use.

The nature’s answer to hair loss, Novuhair, gives us the lowdown on these chemicals to help you with us with our choices of hair products to use.

CLAG Women's Fellowship 2016 and The Wonderful Memories it Gave

A photo opp with the delegates during the CLAG Women's Fellowship with its theme: "Revive your Heart and your ministry"

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!"

(Psalm 133:1)

After months of planning and preparing, the CLAG (Central Luzon Association of Grace Churches) Women’s Fellowship has finally concluded and it was one successful fellowship! This one day fellowship is composed of 73 registered delegates, excluding children, teens/youth, pastors and husbands who also came to worship with us. It was such a blessed and joyful day!

Make Up 101 Session with Co-bloggers

Caption courtesy of Mhaan
Last Thursday was an out-of-the-ordinary day for me and my mommy blogger friends. We met in RamenCool once again for our first ever (informal) make-up 101 session. Thanks to our gorgeous friend Mhaan of Mommy Rockin’ in Style (and The Beauty Avenue) for teaching us the make-up basics. It was such a fun learning for us inside a cool, cozy meeting place in RamenCool, with the kids playing and messing around during the session! Lol! ZD was the best! He destroyed quite a few stuff, haha!

Finding Good Deals, Discounts and Coupons Online

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. All opinions are of my own.

Moms like me want to make the most out of our every purchase. We loooove, love, love to find great deals! That is given, there’s something about being able to get an item at a discounted price, it makes us feel proud about it, and we feel smart because we found a way to spend less than the amount it should be. And with us moms who have so many things on the list to purchase, deals and discounts can really help us budget-wise.

Smart Parenting Money Strategies for Smart Moms

I am someone who isn’t knowledgeable when it comes to investing, and stocks. In fact, I am one of those who are willing to learn but just know where to start and what to learn first. And although we are into saving and I know household budgeting, financial industry for me is still like a jigsaw puzzle that I’m trying to connect piece by piece.

I’m glad I got the chance to attend the first step to financial literacy! And hopefully, little by little, I’ll be able to create that image of a solved jigsaw puzzle. Last October 22, Saturday, SmartParenting.com.ph, the credible parenting resource backed by experts and a community of involved parents, held “Money Strategies for Smart Moms at Café 1771 in Ortigas, and I was there! Yay!

Why I want an OPPO F1s

In a world where things are becoming more and more advanced, if there’s one thing that can do so many things for us, it is… *drumroll…* the SMARTPHONE! (yeah)!

We all can agree that smartphone is our tiny assistant wherever we go. It’s that beeping alarm that wakes us up in the morning, our planner that we can easily glance to check our schedule, our help when we don’t know where we’re going, our trusted companion during emergencies, our tool in creating wonderful memories, our way of keeping our sanity when we’re inside a super heavy traffic (and the list goes on and on)! It’s really wonderful how this thing can be of a huge help for us!

VitaCubes 2Good Fun Day and What It Has to Offer to Our Kids

Another Saturday filled with fun and excitement happened last Saturday during the VitaCubes Funday in Activ Fun, BGC! I was with my sisters and Nate, it was tiring but a fulfilling one! There's so much to be thankful for during this event, but these are the top 3 on my list!

Eight F8ful Years ♥ + 3 Tips to Keep a Strong Relationship with Your Partner

It is with gratitude and joy for me to post about Dane and I’s 8th year together. Truly, God is faithful in each of our lives. We can never say that this journey was smooth-sailing, but what I can say is, if not for God’s goodness + our faithfulness to each other, this relationship wouldn’t last this long.

Eight years may be just a speck compared to those who’ve been together for decades, but for us, it is definitely worth remembering and thankful for. Many of us want our relationship to work but there are also many couples who, unfortunately, didn’t make it together and mutually decided to split. For whatever reason, we also think that “maybe” that person isn’t "the one" for you.

I first met him in a local fellowship in their church (the same church where we go now) during a fellowship and I’ll lie if I say I didn’t have a crush on him! LOL! Korni/cheesy, whatever! Haha. But he was in a commitment with someone else that time.

'Science Circus: Step Right Up!' at The Mind Museum!

Who wouldn't love the mind museum?

Last Saturday after the MBP Mad Hatter Party, we got to experience the wonders of The Mind Museum for the very first time! And by the smiles of the kids' faces (and even us, the parents), you can clearly tell that everyone had a great time!

3 Things That I Didn't Like About the MBP Mad Hatter Party 2016

Nate and I *insert my youngest sister, Ashiel*, were part of the recently concluded MBP (Mommy Bloggers Philippines) Mad Hatter Party 2016 held at the Mind Museum. It was such a perfect day; the place was filled with happy kids, smiling moms and dads, wonderful balloon decors, and friendly sponsors. Everyone seems happy and feeling blessed!

This was the 2nd MBP event that Nate and I attended, last year, we were also able to join the party in Skyranch, Tagaytay. However, even though this was the 2nd MBP we’ve attended, I still had so many missed opportunities during this event. Here are the 3 things that I didn’t like about the Mommy Bloggers Philippines Mad Hatter Party 2016.

3 Reasons Why Moms Shop Online + a New Twist to Online Shopping

Nowadays, more and more moms choose to shop online more often than go to a physical store. I myself can’t blame them for doing that. Moms have many reasons why they choose to shop online. And although we still buy our groceries at the store, there are many other stuff that we’d rather just buy online.

My First In-Store Make up Haul! :)

Isn’t it great to be able to have friends who support and help you out? Of course, who wouldn’t love that, right? Thanks to our ever supportive friend Mhaan of Mommy Rockin’ in Style, I was able to buy some make up stuff in an actual store. Here’s my story: I don’t like going to beauty department in the malls before because I didn’t know what to order, what to tell the staff, what I want and all! Haha!

SM San Mateo 3-Day Sale Haul! ♥

I think I'm having a new series on this blog and it's called HAUL! lol. Last week, I posted about my BeautyMNL beauty haul, then this... Plus, there's another one on my draft that's awaiting to publish about my first in-store make up haul! I'm telling you I'm starting to love posting hauls! lol.

Last Friday was a joyous day for us. With Nate getting better with cough and colds, we went early to SM San Mateo to be with other customers and experience the 1st day of their 3-day sale! What I saw was exactly not what I was expecting!

KidloLand: A Toddler Learning App REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!!!

Nate has only 4 apps that he used whenever he wanted to before: Bible for Kids, Alphabets, Fruit Ninja and Word Play. He doesn’t use those very often since I want him to be more engaged with physical activities; secondly, I really want a very less screen time for him.

About 2 weeks ago, I got invited to try out another app for little kids which is called KidloLand. KidloLand is an app designed for  kids under 5 years old. Kids can learn ABCs, animals, fruits, vegetables, shapes and more with the help of 700+ interactive nursery rhymes, songs, stories and educational activities. It's got so many good stuff available for our little ones!

My Make up Story + My First Online Beauty Haul Ever!

I am not kikay. And I don't think I'll ever will. We grew up in a small and simple baranggay. That means I was never exposed to beauty products and make up. I got used to it and got used to going out without anything on my face. That was the life that I have before until recently. Yes, just recently! That I decided I needed to learn the basic make up!

Before I decided to start learning to use make up on my face, I had a few reasons why I chose

Sundayvotion: To Everything There’s a Season

I my last blog post, I talked about the possibility of not being able to manage my post schedules anymore due to a few things that needed to be handled and managed well. My passion in writing stays the same and I promise myself that I will continue to update my blog, time permitting. I’m happy I have that time now. I decided to go home early, with Nate and my mother-in-law, to be able to write a post on my blog. Thankfully, Nate also got so tired and decided to sleep on our way back home. So here I am, typing and maximizing the time that I have while my son is sleeping. :)

Unfulfilled Commitment Causing a Pause

For weeks now, I've been contemplating about whether I can still commit to my post schedule. After so many considerations, I have decided that I can no longer commit to it anymore. I am therefore not doing some of them and hopefully be able to manage other things. This isn't easy for me to let go but

TupperwareBrand's Baby Care Plus+

About 10 days ago, I was one of the mommy bloggers who were blessed to be given the chance to try the Baby Care Plus+ products from Tupperware brands. Nate has tried their baby powder before but he has never tried the rest.

Tupperware, our mom's favorite kitchenware brand has now expanded its scope. Just today, I found out they already have perfumes, household stuff and many other things. I was surprised they're not just limited to plastic wares now. And even though my mother is a Tupperware dealer, it's been more than a decade since I actually visited a Tupperware branch or store.

Wednesday Wreview: Hainanese Delights Robinsons Galleria

Last Monday, Nate and I were supposed to join little crafter’s playschool in Shangrila EDSA. Unfortunately, we came very late. And by late, I mean 30 minutes before the class ended. We were so stuck in a heavy traffic. I honestly thought of not going while in the middle of the trip going there but then I realized, my friend, Berlin was there with her son Yael so we decided to still go anyway.

By the time we arrived, the kids have already sung many songs and were just playing on their own. Nate didn’t feel like joining the little kids so I didn’t force him to hop in. After about 10 – 15 minutes, Nate said he wanted to leave and buy something to eat.  I was just planning to buy some snacks then go back to the venue but then Berlin said they’ll go with us already so we decided to eat lunch.

12 Important Things About Long Distance Relationship

Today marks Dane's 1st year as an OFW. If you are to ask me how I feel about it, I’ll say that I feel proud that we made it this far – well, I knew we’d get through this together, and even longer, but of course, we don’t know what lies ahead. If I were to remember, the first night that he left, I felt sooo empty and lonely… and worried!

The past year for me was too long and too short at the same time. I don't really know what to feel now that we only have 1 year left 'til he's home. We are halfway through this challenging phase. And God knows in our hearts, that we never want this to ever happen again.

Since today's his 1st year away from us, I'd like to talk about 12 important (referencing to the 12 months in a year) things that I can think of when I think about our current situation as long-distance married couples.
