Mama & Nate's Weekend Playdate

My cousin, who stayed at home for a few weeks for her interview with the US embassy gave Nate 13 game arcade tokens. Since the day Nate got it, he kept telling me to go to SM so he could use them. I told him we'd have to wait 'til the weekend to go there. He agreed, but the next day, he would tell me the same thing again! lol. So, finally, we went to SM San Mateo last Saturday so he could play and then we'd buy grocery after.

The Story About a Broken Friendship

Which is more painful? A friend you had a serious fight with before you decided you'd just separate ways or a friend you thought was your true friend but suddenly disconnects with you without saying a word?

I think any "friendship break-up" (as I call it) is painful. I just had one recently and I'm still trying to move on from the pain.

This is our story...

Nate's Heartbreaking Hospital Experience

As I was browsing my Instagram wall last night, I realized I haven't blogged about Nate's hospital experience yet (well, I did, on a previous post but it was not detailed). So I'd like to talk about that today. This happened about a month before Nate turned three years old.

Nate does not get easily sick. However, when it comes to colds and coughs, we've noticed that he gets those easily. And these two are always partners. If Nate has a cough, a few days after, colds will follow, and vice versa.

Nate's 3rd Birthday Celebration x VBS 2017 Thanksgiving

Nate turned three more than a week ago, yay! Because it falls on a Friday, I thought it'd be great to celebrate the day after instead. When I asked Nate what he wanted for his birthday, he said he wanted to go to the beach. Nate loves going to the beach and pool, just like most kids (but he does not like taking a bath, lol!).

To All Mothers Around the World...

You who had mixed emotions the moment you see those two lines on the pregnancy test you bought at a local drugstore;
You who suffered nausea, headache, dizziness, and morning sickness;
You who happily watch your tummy grow little by little each day;
You who was completely shocked the moment you felt your child's first kick;
You who endured hours of labor pain that felt like it was killing you;
You who could not stop those tears from rolling down your cheeks the moment you first saw your little one -

WAHM Diaries: Nate Talks

Breaking the negativity from my previous post, I'd like to talk about our my funny convos with Nate recently. Don't we just love the kids' little minds? They amaze us in ways we don't expect. It's wonderful!

One afternoon:
Nate: "Ma, 'di na ako baby e, youth na ako. Just like ate Juday"
Me: *Jaw dropped*
(Juday is one of his "ates" in the church)

Did Smart Pay Me to Bash Globe?

Two days ago, I wrote a post I thought was a heartwarming message for my son to read when he grows up. Little did I know, that post would lead to a controversy and would make others think that I am being paid to say negative things about a telecom - Globe to be exact.

In my post with a title mama's love letter, I talked about Nate and how happy and proud we are to be his parents. However, before that part, in a three-sentence paragraph, I mentioned that Globe was down in the area and that I had to use Smart so I could go online for my committed time at work. Additionally, I added a hyperlink on the anchor text 'Smart LTE' to direct it to the said telco's website.

Mama's Love Letter

Last night's a stressful day at work, I didn't have a stable internet connection since yesterday and the internet promo that I registered said that my data usage was too high so they would slow it down because of fair usage policy. This happened at exactly 9 pm (start of my shift). I had no choice, Globe LTE was down in the area so I had to buy a new Smart LTE sim so I could work. (READ: Did Smart Pay Me to Bash Globe?)

I told you I needed to go out and buy a new sim card and you asked to go with me. I told you I couldn't take you with me 'coz I was in a hurry and I needed to be back asap, and besides, it's night time already. You bargained and said if you wear a jacket and a hat, I could take you. I said I still couldn't but promised you I would be back as soon as possible. You ok'd and I left. Oh, Nate! You always choose to understand!

5 Reasons Why I Applied for a Secured Credit Card

I am one of those who does not like to use credit cards. Well, that was before. I think I was just too afraid to own one because I do not want to be like the many credit card users who ended up in so much debt, most of them were unable to recover from it. It is also because I cannot provide the requirements to getting one.

BPI Secured Credit Card

Today, I got my very first BPI credit card. It's a credit card like no other, lol! It's a secured credit card. :) It is for those who can't provide the requirements for a regular credit card.

Although the process felt like forever to complete, I'm happy it's finally over. For one straight week, I kept going back and forth to BPI San Mateo and they could not accommodate my request because every time I go, the system is down, haha! Lucky me!

DVBS 2017 Experience in One Word

VBS team singing a song during our VBS graduation
Our Vacation Bible School 2017 was a success! Our five-day VBS ministry was concluded last Saturday, April 29th and it we are thankful for God's provision throughout the 5-day activity.

During our last evaluation after the graduation day, we had everyone describe their VBS experience in one word. I was the first to share and with humor, I said that my one word would be "headache". I had a headache for three straight days during the VBS so on Thursday and Friday, I decided to skip and rest.

Sundayvotion: Building Each Other Up

It's been a while since I last posted a Sundayvotion. I have no excuse for doing that. Today, I would like to talk briefly about building each other up.

We see it in social media, people fighting over some issues. Their arguments are not going anywhere. None of them are willing to let go of their contentions.

Because of Brownout

Yesterday, something unexpected happened - it rained hard even though it's summer time. Although I thought of it as a blessing because it is super hot nowadays, this has caused brownout in our area for more than four hours. Because of that, I was able to do things that I don't usually do anymore.

Sister's Farewell Letter

My youngest sister, Ashiel, went home last Friday, April 14th. The house is so much different now after she stayed here for about eight months. However, I'm happy that she's finally back home. My parents missed her so much - that I can say. She has been the one to help me with Nate when she was here. Before she left, she made sure to leave me a letter. This was what it said:

WAHM's M.I.A. Reasons

For the past two weeks (or more), I have been in hiatus on blogging again. It was not my plan, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to stop writing. Now, things are starting to be back to normal again, and I'm happy to be back. There are three main reasons why I was missing in action again:

WAHM Diaries: Nate and His Fever

It has been a habit for me to wake up early during Sundays. I used to be so tardy during this day that we were always late in our Sunday School back then. Thank God for His help, we have not been tardy in the church for months now.

As I write this, my little Nate is sleeping soundly in the other room. Praise God for helping my boy recover from illness. Two days ago, he was down with a fever that I had to take care of him, even at work. He was sleeping on my lap for two nights while I work. I don't know how I made that possible, but I did. It was not easy but we made it through.

Renewing my Unionbank EON card

Ever since I started working home-based, Unionbank EON has been my partner. That's five years and counting already. Yesterday, I went to renew my card as it was expiring on 4/2017. I wanted to *hopefully* be able to get a replacement before the new payout comes so I won't experience any delays with my pay.

Sadly, my experience yesterday did not turn out well. When it was my turn, I was informed by the teller that my card will not expire until April 2017, I would have to pay Php 150 to have it renewed, or I could come back on April 30th to renew my card.

This branch is located in St. Peter in Commonwealth Avenue. This is the branch that I use to go and this is the nearest that I know from our place - we are in San Mateo, Rizal, so it's a bit far from us already. Haha. Since I was already there, I agreed to pay the Php 150 pesos in hopes that I could get my new card right away as that was what happened when I got my first replacement in 2014.

Signs of Anemia and Sangobion's #SulongDugongPinoy Campaign

Photo Grabbed from Sangobion Philippines FB Page
Anemia is something that we all don't want to have. However, due to some of the things that we do, we became at risk for having one. Take me, for example, I have been working at night since 2009 - we all know how important sleep is. Now, because I have to do my job, I have no choice but to stay awake all night. Unless of course I quit and look for a daytime job (which is another story).

Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW)

So I was given another task to blog about EAW and I have never heard of this brand before. Another name that's completely new to me! So after doing a few research, I found out that EAW Eastern Acoustic Works.

Eastern Acoustic Works is an American producer of principally professional audio support devices, like loudspeaker systems and processors. Guitar Center has, EAW at a great price! Now, EAW is already available in Guitar Center, a website for musical instruments, tools and equipment for all music lovers.

WAHM Diaries: What am I Thinking?

Time check is 12:40 AM, March 20th, Monday. I just got off the phone with Dane. We had a little "tampuhan" and I'm happy it's finally settled. We talked for about an hour and now he's prepping to go back to work. The weekend so busy for all of us. As I write this, I recall what we did during the weekend.

Wig Talk: Natural Wig VS Synthetic Wigs

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine.

People use wigs for various reasons. Although I, myself, do not use any wigs at all, celebrities and cancer patients find wigs beneficial. Today, I learned that wigs have different types: the most common are natural wig and synthetic hair

The Fear of Germs and My Encounter with PowerClean Chemicals

One of moms' greatest fears seeing her family sick. That is why it's understandable for other moms to be OC when it comes to household cleanliness.

Today, I learned about Mysophobia which is the fear of contamination and germs. And for someone who grew up in a small town who was too exposed to dirt and germs, I can 100% say that I don't have this kind of fear.

Dasmariñas Grace Gospel Church 17th Anniversary

One of our churches in Things to Come Mission Incorporated recently celebrated its 17th founding anniversary last Sunday, March 12, 2017, and I am happy to be a part of this wonderful celebration.

God blessed Dasmariñas Grace Gospel Church of Christ for 17 years already. Although it was unplanned, I, together with the other officers of the Grace Women's Warriors decided to do our monthly visitation in this church at the same day. So Sunday at 5:20 AM, Nate and I left to be in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Different Candy For Do-It-Yourself Candy Buffets

This is a guest post from Sweet Services.

Candy buffets are very popular. They are truly beautiful, tasty, and unique. They are more easily received than the traditional cake tables and there is something for everyone.  With all the popularity, the one question that is probably asked the most is, “What candy do you use?”  We are going to give you some basic formulas for your DIY candy buffet. However, keep in mind this is just a basic guide.  The weather, occasion, theme, and age of the party guests could affect the final selection.

4 Funny Things People from Big Family Can Relate

Last week, one of my blogger friends (insert one of my fave bloggers too), Momi Berlin talked about the advantages and disadvantages of having a big family via I was smiling while reading the articles because as someone who is from a big family, I can totally relate to everything she said!

With that, I thought I should write about my experience as a member of a big family too. We are a family of six and I was the eldest of four kids. You can just imagine how challenging it is for me try to be a "good example" to my siblings. Although, I'm not talking about that now 'coz that's a different story. :)

Our Adobo Connection Experience

A few weeks ago, we were able to go out of our cave and visit SM San Mateo again. We played in the game arcade and planned to sing karaoke. However, since there were still a lot of customers waiting in line for the karaoke, we decided to have dinner first. One of the nearest restos was Adobo connection. We decided to dine here to give it a try. Let me share our experience here.

Rico Case (Rico What??)

Here’s a short info: this photo above is called a rico case (reminds me of Rico Yan, actually). I had no idea what this is until today and this is what I learned: It is a multi-instrument reed storage Case with humidity control pack for all clarinets and saxophones. Must be why I didn’t know about it ‘coz it’s for sax and clarinets and I don’t play those instruments.

Yup, now I know! And if you haven’t yet, now you know too! :)

Will I ever need to buy one of these in the future? I don’t think so.

Drum Set for Toddlers + Nate's Cute (and Funny) Review

An FB friend's post of her son playing a newly purchased drumset reminded me that I have been planning to buy Nate one and just keep forgetting about it. Poor me!

Since Nate is in love with the drum set in the church, I decided to buy him a drum set already (it's been long overdue anyway). There's a lot of cute drum set available in Lazada to choose from. However, since I wanted to buy a cheaper set, I purchased the one with no bass drum - just five drums, and one cymbal for PHP 699.

Weekend Fun @ Club Synergy SM San Mateo

Two Saturdays ago, about the same time I lost my interest in writing, I decided to take my family to SM San Mateo for a quick outdoor fun. One of the reasons why I suddenly decided to do this was because I knew I needed to help myself. I had to do something and not just stay uninterested in writing. So, I took a break and got a few amount from my savings. Lol!

#KilayGoals: Threading Experience @ Nature's Way Aroma Therapy Salon

I decided to grow my brows so I can have it 'fixed' again (if that's the right term to use).  I think, may ibubuga pa sya pag pinaayos pa. And because #kilayislife, I decided to seek help in grooming it.

Side story: when I was in high school, my gay friend plucked my brows for the first time. Since then, I got used to plucking my eyebrows.

What to Do When You Don't Feel Like Writing

A few weeks back, I've been feeling like not writing on my blog at all. And even though journaling is something that I love to do since I was young (a throwback to all my elementary and high school diaries), everything doesn't just come out naturally, as I'm not a professional writer.

Love is in the air! Happy hearts day, everyone!  Today, my Facebook newsfeed is full of posts about flowers, chocolates, and intimate notes from my friends all over the globe. ♥

But this is not what I'm going to talk about today. I just thought today is the perfect time to share 10 of my favorite Christian songs for everyone who loves music as much as they love food. :) Let's start!

Restore Unto me the Joy of Writing...

These past few days (or weeks, I guess), I noticed that I feel like not writing anymore. Or, let me say it this way: I feel like not blogging anymore. I don't know how this happened, I don't know why, but this is what I feel recently.

Get to Know my Siblings (Sibling War)

Last week, I noticed that most of my friends post about this thing called "sibling war" on Facebook and I thought it was fun so I joined the group! Then I thought - why not post on my blog? lol. So here it is...

Before that, btw. Meet my siblings. There's 4 of us, 3 ladies, 1 guy. I'm the eldest, and our nicknames are doubled (bisaya people's trend, lol). Ask a bisaya friend, and you'll know. haha.

Walmart and Amazon Shopping via HalpU

Filipinos are known to be family oriented. We have strong family ties that's why some would work abroad to help their loved ones. And even in a foreign land, our OFWs remember us. Every time Dane comes from the mall, he would say, “ang daming maganda dun para sa inyo ni Nate”!

OFWs love to send packages to their family. They’d save and buy products to put in their in “box” so they can send it to their loved ones in the PH. This is the reason why an online website called halpU decided to innovate to help our OFWs and those who love buying US products.

To Our Dear Bunso on Her 17th Birthday

Dear Chen,

I loved you from the moment I laid my eyes on you. I still remember when I first held you in my arms 17 years ago. You were so tiny and vulnerable. I sang endless songs for you eventhough you’re already sleeping. You are such a special gift!

A Peek at a Customer Service Rep's Life

“Thank you for calling ____, my name is _____, how can I help you?”

This is the spiel that I say many times during my entire shift. This normally comes out immediately after my call comes in. I interact with the customers in behalf of the company that I work with, assist them before and after they place an order, help them with their inquiries, take their orders, respond to their complaints and help resolve their issues.

3 Reasons why we love music

One of the candidates in during the recently concluded Ms. Universe 2016, held in SM MOA arena, who went viral online (even though she never won or even got included in the Top finalists), was Ms. Netherlands. Few videos of her dancing to the tune of Beyonce’s Single Ladies during the Miss U rehearsals are now circulating online. This video brings so much good vibes; you’d smile when you get to watch it. She was dancing like nobody’s watching! J

If you haven’t already, here’s the video (although I’m guessing we’ve all watched it already, lol!)

My Personal Experience with Shoppiyo

Have you heard about the online website called Shoppiyo? I have never tried shopping at Shoppiyo before this instance. In fact, I still haven't experienced making any purchases at their website but because they were a Lazada supplier, I was able to experience their service.

This all started when my USB headset for work retired. I had to find a replacement headset that I could use.  I asked for a recommendation from my workmate on what's a good brand to buy as my USB headset didn't have a noise canceling feature (only noise reduction). So she recommended the headset that she's been using for years. This is what happened.

6 Bible Promises About Healing

Last Sunday afternoon, after I went back to the church from my dentist appointment, I told Melisa that I was feeling really tired. She told me to sleep but I couldn't as we needed to go home. Aside from that, we also needed to drop by the market to buy our food supplies for the week. So we left at around 6 PM and bought the stuff in the market and head home.

It rained on our way home. And although the cab driver was kind enough to take us straight home (most taxi drivers would complain so we'd cut our trip and just drop by the municipal hall and ride a tricycle from there going home), we were still a little wet with the mist before we were able to get a cab.

Plans and Prayers for 2017

This post is a little late but as they say, better late than never. :D

I tried my best to finish all my pending posts for December 2016 first before I start with my 2017 posts. So now that everything is posted, all lights are green for my 2017 posts (and I pray that this year will be a fruitful year for us).

With that, here are our plans and prayers for 2017. These, I will check next year and will be my guide and list of God’s faithfulness to me and my loved ones this year. Lo, here are my prayers and plans this year.

Our short (yet memorable) Mt. Samat Shrine visit

God is great, He gave me what my heart desired. Before we even left for Kid's Camp 2016, I was so convinced that we would go to Mt. Samat Shrine (by hook or by crook). I have a few personal reasons for doing so, one of which is: my youngest sister, mother-in-law, and Nate have never been there yet.

Kid's Camp 2016: The experience, the recollection and Nate's First Time

December was such a busy month for all of us. As for me and my family, what made it even busier was the Kid's Camp 2016 that we attended. Most of the camps that our church has are located in our bible school in Bagac, Bataan. Last year, I thought it was about time for Nate to experience his first Kid's Camp.

Kid's Camp 2016
Venue: International Grace Bible Institute (IGBI) - Bataan Campus
Theme: "Batang B.I.D.A. : Batang Bibliya ang Inaaral, Disiplina'y Asahan"
Text: 2 Tim. 2:15
Date: December 27 - 30, 2016
*Estimated delegates: 90
*Estimated adult attendees: 50 (or more)
*(This is just my personal estimate; I don't have the exact count of the attendees during the camp).

1. To enlighten the mind of every child that "Batang BIDA" means a child who learns from the Bible and makes an application out of it.
2. To teach every child some of the Basic Doctrines such as Doctrine of the Bible, Deity of Christ, Redemption and Believer's Walk in simplest form.
3. To turn self-centeredness of every child into Christ-centeredness.
4. To reinforce the interest of every child in studying the Bible.
5. To stimulate discipline in the heart of every child through the principles of the Bible.
