RestoReview 5 Things to Love about Caffera Photo + Café

On Friday, my friend and I were happy to be a part of Eats a Date (again). Eats-a-date is an OpenRice PH event where bloggers/foodies visit a resto/café and know more about it through the owners.  We had a chance to visit Metro Manila's first photography-themed café named Caffera (Cafe + Camera, hence, Caffera) which is just located about 20 mins away from where we live!

What's interesting is that I didn't even know this Café before! So I had to look it up on Google and from there, I found their Facebook Page . Just by looking at it, I know I'll be in one of the coolest, most unique place I'll ever be (and I was right!). After spending a few hours at their café and talking to the owners, I say there are at least 5 things to love about Caffera that will make you want to visit their place. :)

1. The small yet welcomy place
Caffera has a small place that can prolly accomodate around 20-30 people. You're sure can drop here or some quite time when you need to! And yes, of course, the addicting coffee aroma is already there ready before you even open the door!

Have a break, take a seat, read a book! :)
This corner looks like a stage for me, I want a mic and guitar here so I can start singing! lol! (but no, I might just disturb other customers who came here to have peace of mind!

2. The cute & unique photography theme
I don't go to cafés very often, in fact, I can just count the cafés that I've been so far. But this place, I'm telling you, is awesome! When I went here, I think of one person - Norbie Joy, she's like a sister to me who is so good at taking pictures! This place is for photo hobbyists, pros, and wanna-bes. When you step inside this place, you'll immediately get the feel the good photography vibe!

The owners decided to make it this way not only for uniqueness but also to raise more awareness on photography. Nowadays, with smartphones and devices reigning over, cameras aren't commonly chosen for daily use anymore so they want. Their original target were photographers and photo hobbyist. However, they have noticed that they did not only attract photographers but also students and families, so they widened their scope.

Photographers who have visited their place are encouraged to submit their photos that they can add on their displays/exhibit.

Caffera is a place where you can sit, sip your favorite coffee or cold drink while reading your book, doing your assignments, thinking about anything, doodling, writing your journal, blogging, or simply waiting for your friend who's supper late on your date! lol. Even if this place is near a highway, you can still think straight here! I don't know why but it could be because of how they set up their interior designs! It's pretty cool. Sometimes, I find myself in awe of how they put every details together!

3. The tasty treats!
I have to first say that it's been about 5 or 6 years since I stopped drinking coffee. It was because I was told it stops dysmenorrhea. Not that it's not allowed, but I just am not used to drinking coffee anymore and would prefer milk. With that being said, I'd like to say I'm not a coffee expert here but I judge based on what I tasted. :) And I'm glad I got to sip a good quality coffee after I stopped for years! I mean, I won't really want to break my "self-rule" a bit over a cup of some coffee sachets sold at the store! lol!

Here's a few of the many desserts/drinks they offer:
Choco Mint (Php 135) - made with dark chocolate and their own special mint. This tastes good, I love chocolate drinks so this is a plus for me! :)
3 cheese panini (Php 100) is composed of three different kinds of cheese, one of them is cream cheese, it's so yummy specially with the chips! Plus, you can't deny that the price is really affordable.
Sutro Caramel Macchiato (Php 100) - made with caramel, they wanted it to be like latte with caramel. They want their customers to drink it smooth but can still taste the bitter and sweet taste altogether. Since I'm not into coffee, this tastes super strong for me

Sierra Mocha (Php 100) - chocolate & coffee with a much foamier texture. If I go back there and order coffee, I'll surely order this again.
Tiramisu Frapperture (Php 135) - coffee based drink. This is another tasty cold drink you can choose.

Oreo Cheesecake (Php 120) - Nate and I both loooove this cheesecake! Its sweet taste is just enough for me
Red Velvet Cupcake (Php 70) - I bought this for Nate and he loves it! But he didn't eat that cute camera! lol!
Camera Shot Glass Cookies (Php 110)
Camera Chocolate Cake (Php 220)
cakes!!! ♥
Customers can ask to either increase or decrease caffeine & coffee level, whichever they like. Just let them know, it's their goal to make their customers satisfied! :)

4. The owners' inspiring story
"Replace fear of the unknown with curiosity"
This quote is so true on the owners' lives, it just fits them so much! They started in college and there were 4 of them originally (2 ladies, 2 gents). Caffera is one of those fancy ideas in thesis which turned into a wonderful reality.

Before they decided to turn into a group, all 4 of them have the same passion of having a coffee shop one day. Gab, who was one of the owners decided to take Barista courses and Latte art during summer to to realize the plan. Being responsible individuals themselves, they raised the amount to put up Caffera using their own savings accounts and some they were able to raise by selling anything they thought they could sell! Wow, young people should really learn from these guys, I am so impressed by them!

Photo displays
Before defense, they've already been told by some of their friends, classmates and profs that they could not see the connection between coffee and photography. But that did not stop them from pushing the idea.

They did their very best 'til their defense until their concept got approved! And they didn't stop there! They really realized it! Amazing fellows. Don't ask me about their age 'coz their still in their early 20's right now! Imagine that! At 21 or 23, they already have their own business. And here I am, 26 years old, and an employee! hahaha!

Camera lens as light? Why not!
Caffera officially started in September 2014. Happy anniversary guys! Keep up the good work!

5. The accessible location.
Caffera is just a few minutes away from Philcoa. Plus, it's pretty easy to locate, most tricycle drivers use their address as landmark! If you're commuting, just ride a tricycle and tell them the address and they'll drop you right in front of the building!

Caffera also do booths for weddings, birthdays and any occasions. Shoot them a message for their package deals to know more about their pricing.

And a bonus to all these? Their prices are a lot more affordable! Check these out:

They open daily from 10AM - 12mn.

Sundayvotion: What Was Accomplished At Calvary?

If the Bible makes anything clear, it is the fact that the secret of all God’s good news to men is centered in Calvary. It was because Christ was to die for sin that God could proclaim good news to sinners down through the ages.

It was not until some time after the crucifixion, however, that “the preaching of the cross” was widely proclaimed as a message by Paul in “the gospel [good news] of the grace of God” (ICor.1:18; Acts 20:24).

Image source;
The proclamation of “the gospel of the grace of God” was the natural accompaniment to the revelation of the cross as the secret of God’s good news to man. In this proclamation of His over-abounding grace to sinners, everything centers in the cross.

According to Paul’s epistles “we have redemption through His [Christ’s] blood” (Eph.1:7), we are “justified by His blood” (Rom.5:9), “reconciled to God by the death of His Son” (Rom.5:10), “made nigh by the blood of Christ” (Eph.2:13), and “made the righteousness of God in Him” because “God hath made Him to be sin for us” (IICor.5:21).

The “covenant” of the Law was abolished by the cross (Col.2:14), the curse of the Law was removed by the cross (Gal.3:13), the “middle wall of partition” was broken down by the cross (Eph.2:14,15), and believers in Christ are “reconciled to God in one body by the cross” (Eph. 2:16). Little wonder Paul calls this message “the preaching of the cross”!

To the believers it is thrilling indeed, and how thankful we should be, to see the cross as God’s reply to Satan when, at first glance, it had appeared that the cross was Satan’s greatest triumph.

"What Was Accomplished At Calvary?" is taken from the devotional email entitled "What Was Accomplished At Calvary?"  I received from Berean Bible Society. I claim no credit to this post. Just want to share this wonderful devotional to those who can read it. Be blessed!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! ♥

I have been observing thanksgiving since the time I started working in a call center. I don't really celebrate with a turkey, (lol) because we don't have thanksgiving here in PH on our calendar as holiday. But it's always good to just take that day to be thankful for everything. Not that it should only be the day to thank God, we should thank Him everyday for the air we breathe, for the food we eat and for everything we received from God. I'm sure if we are contented with what we have, we will realize that what we have can be more than enough.

I am most thankful for my family who is everything to me and is the reason I continue to work hard.
I thank God for my unexpected time off at work. Unexpected because it was just announce very recently. Since most of my workmates requested for a time off, our boss decided to just close on thanksgiving. And I'm happy she did, even if that means it's a large chunk of money that will be taken out from my pay, that is still something I can spend with Nate and that I can take with me forever because a time spent with someone you love can never be paid by money.

So for this years thanksgiving, this is my shout out (taken from my FB status):
Thank God for my unexpected "unpaid" off, hahaha! I had a time well spent with Nate, this is where our feet took us yesterday. Plus, I always love an extra night of sleep with him! Which means my unpaid off can't really be paid by money, because I used it for something priceless. hehe. Happy thanksgiving to all my friends in US!

Thank God for my unexpected "unpaid" off, hahaha! I had a time well spent with Nate, this is where our feet took us yesterday. Plus, I always love an extra night of sleep with him! @daneelnathan

I am thankful for God's grace and salvation that he's given. I am thankful for the job that I have, because of that we have a support for our financial needs. I am thankful for this wonderful world of blogging where I can freely write what I want to say. I am thankful for my son who is the reason why we strive harder. I am thankful for my dearest Dane who works from miles away in order for us to be able to save for our future, he's lonely and we miss him so much but he's trying his best to get himself busy at work so he won't be very sad. I am thankful because he's the person that God gave me to spend the rest of my life with. I am thankful for every little things that we have and we can enjoy. I am thankful for everything.

Now off to what I got to try (which I have to be honest, I haven't tried any of them yet. I wouldn't until I get a good photo of them but my sister 'stole' some packs of tea and told me she loves them! lol!)
Aya Guyabano and Malunggay tea.
I have to say I'm not so much into tea but I'm going to try this, specially the malunggay tea leaf because malunggays are proven to give me more breast milk to feed Nate. :)

Caress by Nature Seawood Detox Beauty Soap, Goat and Oat Care Soap and Castile hand & body was blend

Caress by Nature Power Herb Skin Recovery Lotion
Eco Deo Spray
Porcelana Whitening Face & Neck Creme with Natural Plant Oil & SPF

OPEN RICE PH - Lola's Cafe + Bar RestoReview

Last November 12th (also Dane & I's 35th wedding monthsary), I had the chance to visit the most homey restaurant I've ever visited so far, it's Lola's Cafe + Bar. I came there with Jennie of Raising Hunter and Melisa of Seafarer's Wife Diaries.

Although we arrived there late (due to traffic and we honestly don't know the place, lol!), we were given the same friendly treatment as the others. :)

First I have to tell you this place is amazing, it is quiet and peaceful, a perfect place for you to just sit, think, reminisce or have some quality time with someone. I think it's the best place for that but that's not limited to just that. It's a perfect place for meetings and business transactions as well.

Lola's Cafe + Bar is a renovated house so you really get that homey feel the moment step on their door! Let me show you how amazing their interior design is, it's awesome! Without the chairs & the tables, you wouldn't think it's a restaurant, how cool is that?!

From right, clockwise: The stairs to the 2nd floor with walls filled with wonderful frames and posts, wall frames on the 2nd floor with plants to add that natural, organic feel, interior design on a little room on the 2nd floor, makes you not want to leave anymore! lol!
Top photos are the places on the 2nd floor and lower photo's a view from 2nd floor down.
Who wouldn't love this place anyway?
Ok, now that we're done with the nice part, let's move on the the yummy part, shall we? lol! I have to tell you the foods they serve are all delish! They've converted "lutong bahay" recipes into extraordinary, organic foods. You'll taste a lutong bahay with an awesome twist! I have to say, I can stay there all day, eat their food, rest, eat again, sleep and eat again! hahaha! They have so many yummy recipes in store, it makes me want to go back there already. But I don't want to go back there alone, I want to take Dane with me. I'll take him there when we he comes home.

Bagoong Rice with Roasted Pork Belly - this I love the taste of this dish, topped with fresh alugbati, the feels took me back to my childhood days, loved alugbati ever since!
Fresh Prawns with Crab Fat & Chili Garlic Sauce - I love this one (I love them all actually! lol!)

Beef Salpicao - the beef was tender and juicy it's perfect for our hungry tummies!
Tinola Rice with Confit of QTR Chicken - This rice was cooked using the soup of Tinola (I don't even know that's possible! lol) and the taste is perfect with the chicken meat and veggies on top

I have to be honest, I forgot what it's called! lol! But this doesn't mean it's not yummy, I wanted more of this! It's an organic squid (small ones) with ferns and other veggies.
Pistachio Pavlova Grapes - These are kids' fave Nate consumed this and I can't blame him, it's so tasty!
Rio Mocktail, Grapefruit Mint leaves Juice - I needed a liter more of this! lol!

With Open Rice team + restaurant owners
And with our tag-along little foodie bloggers. :)
I know I should've checked for their prices, sorry I don't have them all, it's a lot challenging going with a toddler but I hope this price list I found online will help give you an estimate of their prices. :)

My overall experience with Lola's Cafe + Bar is an A+, I'll definitely recommend this restaurant! It's peaceful, it's welcoming, it's cozy and it offers variety of food we grew up with but with a cool twist your taste buds will surely love! And most of all, hindi nakakaluwa ang presyo! haha.

Now to my Nutri10 Plus Food Supplement Update, here's the update from the moms of the kids I gave the supplements to try. So far, most of them like the supplement and many of them have a good feedback to tell. :)

MJ's moms said her son's suuuuper active and would ask for food every time! hahaha! True to its words, Nutri10 really helped MJ become "aktibo't magana". MJ's son let's him take the supplement at night before going to bed. MJ is a kind of kid that doesn't really like vitamins but his mom's forcing him to take them. Not that he likes the taste of it, but he doesn't hate it either! The only challenge MJ's mom is facing right now is that due to hyperactivity, MJ would most often not sleep during afternoon naps.

Joash's mom says so far, Nutri10 has done so many good results on her son, and I can see that too! I saw him get bigger, specially his cheeks! cute!!! She said Joash became more "antukin", more "magana" and she doesn't have problem giving the supplement to him because he likes its ponkan taste.

Jezrel likes Nutri10 too and same with Joash, she eats and sleeps more often now. She doesn't have any problem giving Nutri10 to Jezrel as well because the flavor works great on Jezrel.

RV, on the other hand, doesn't seem to show any good result so far but I think it's too early to tell too. And at his age, being super active, we may not be able to tell the difference right away. RV's mom said he's not into eating and sleeping a lot, so we'll see what happens on our 4th month update. :)

Thanks for you time! See you in 2 weeks for these kids' update. :)))
