WAHMa-Rama: My Daily Thoughts (Week 3)

April 25 (One busy week this week!)
This week will surely be a busy one! Today, we're having a photo shoot with my sister from another mother for Nate's 2nd birthday. Wow Nate, you're about to turn 2! How time flies!!!

This is not the only reason to get busy this week! Two weeks past, we bought paints to paint the house that we live in and we're painting the house this week. Just us (kasi mahal pag ipagawa sa iba, lol) - me, my 2 brothers-in-law and my mother-in-law. For sure this will be a busy and tiresome week! whew!

A Family that Loves Guitar

Dane and I both know how to play the guitar; this is one of the things that we can both relate to (as well as singing). Although I can’t say I’m great with playing guitar, I just know how to play the guitar. But Dane is a lot better than me. He can play both the lead and the prs bass guitar. I remember he taught me how to play the bass guitar before but I was too lazy to learn! Lol!

Open Rice Philippines: Your Restaurant Guide

As some of you may have noticed, I have been posting regular restaurant reviews since the last quarter of last year 'til February of this year, I guess. The reason for that is because I was part of the Eat's a date with Open Rice Philippines wherein we'd get invited to try out a restaurant and provide an honest review right after by posting it on their website.

It was great and I personally met a lot of new friends (bloggers and the Open Rice team) since then. However, unfortunately, late February, we learned that Open Rice Philippines has now closed and the website is now operated by Open Rice Hong Kong (the Open Rice main office). It was sad because we've already started to establish a good friendship with Open Rice Philippines as well as other bloggers but we can't do anything about it.

What's funny back then is that the Open Rice team already knew even Nate and ZD and they'd also look for them. lol. They've became little foodies. haha. Now, they're all memories but I'm glad we've became part of it, even just for a little while. :)

Here's a memory of all the eats-a-date I was able to join. Nakakamiss lang. :)

P & P (Paints & Photo shoot)

Monday is baaaack!!! Time to go back to work later! But before I go back to work, today's a busy day. Today, we have many things planned (actually it's not just for today but within the week). This week's going to be a busy one. The first P on my list is PAINT! Yes, we're painting the house we live in. It's going to be challenging but it is exciting!

I always like to paint walls, Dane and I have both been doing that for a long time already! lol. Every time we move, we paint the place. It's nice to live in a newly painted house, no? hehe. So we're doing that this week.

The 2nd P is photo shoot (which is already checked earlier today). We had a photo shoot for Nate's upcoming 2nd birthday, time fliessss (be right back, I need a senti moment, lol). It's just wonderful to have our kid's photos taken by people who are really skilled & gifted in photography. One I personally know is a young lady full of talents. I'll talk about her more when the photos are published, so excited!!!

The photo shoot didn't really go as planned, Nate was uncooperative after the first 10 minutes 'til the end of the session so we had to do so many things to get him to pose. haha. It was fun and tiresome but the photos are priceless, I kept staring at them! I guess that's how it is when it's your kids! lol!

This is him after the photo shoot. Super tired! lol. (photo © Norbie Joy)

So just one more P for this week and we're all good. Good vibes only for today! Bawal ang nega, naba block ang blessings, mahaba pa ang linggo, I need to cheer up! :)

How's your Monday so far?

Sundayvotion: Be Strong

Hello! Today is a busy day for us. Earlier today, we tried changing our routine by going to the market early in the morning and then go to church right after. It didn't turn out well because were more late in the church so we're not doing that again and will instead go to the market Monday morning.

As a mother and a wife of an OFW, managing the house and finances, while taking care of our son (aside from being a WAHM) is challenging. Many times I fail at so many things in life which I hate when I do but later on, I'd realize that life is a series of failures and success, that's just how it is, what's important is that we go on with life.

May this day be a simple day to remind us all of God's goodness. I don't know what you, personally, are experiencing right now, I may not know you and whatever you are going through, but please know that there's a God up there who knows what you are experiencing - he knows your pain, your struggles, your worries and your fears. His word is reminding us all to stay strong and take heart because He will never leave us nor forsake us. :)

May we all be blessed!

WAHMa-Rama: My Daily Thoughts (Week 2)

Here goes my daily drama again! :P
April 18 (Monday na naman!!!)
Manic Monday!!!! Aja lang para sa ekonomiya! lels! Today, I feel so accomplished to be able to finish my blog activities. I hope I can continue to do this inspite of my busy sched. Tonight, I am back to work, Monday's the most challenging day of the week but if you get through it, easy nalang the rest of the days, you just have to do it one day at a time. That's what I actually do.

Last night, Nate and I went home late because it was too difficult to ride on a bus in Makati, I don't even know why, we waited for about 30 minutes just to be able to ride a bus so I went home with migraine! Thankfully, naging OK naman sya after I took Paracetamol and ate supper.

Wednesday Wreview: Stacy's (Fort Bonifacio)

Last Sunday, Nate and I attended my virtual workmate's baby shower. I was excited to see her because it was our first meeting! lol! We knew each other at work, she's been my virtual workmate for more than a year now. I always feel so happy every time I meet my virtual friends!

We left church at around 1:30 PM, it was super hot but thankfully, we made it. We commuted all the way to Makati and rode a cab going to Forbestown. The place is a bit difficult to find, but thanks to my new found friend, Waze (app), we got there about 10 mins past 3PM.

Let me just say that this place is so "kikay"! I like their interior design, it's a perfect place for a baby showers. :)

I was happy to meet Jana and see her bump before she gives birth. She said she's due on June or early July. I wish her all the best and "strength" to push for the baby! :)

It's Nate and I's first visit at Stacy's and here's what I can say:

Post Sched

We can all agree that making a blog is easy but "maintaining" it is super duper difficult! Sometimes, I personally, don't know what to blog anymore. Or if what I think is worth blogging or not (please tell me I'm not the only one! lol!)

During my latest webinar with Shaw Academy about Social Media and content marketing, I learned that as a blogger, I should learn how to plan my blog and content and how often you blog. One of the ways to do that is scheduling your blog posts. I don't receive any monthly monetary support for maintaining my blog but this is what I wanted to do and what I want to keep on doing. And if there's something you love to do, you gotta do right, right? :)

So this is what I came up with. A plan to schedule my blog posts. I don't know if I can even do this without missing any post but I will do my very best to follow my schedule. It doesn't mean I won't post during other days anymore, but for now, this is what I want to be able to accomplish with my blog.

I Lost my Wedding Ring!

Yesterday, the same day we celebrated our 90th monthsary together, I lost my wedding ring! waaa!

Well, "almost". I lost it for about 20 minutes when it went inside the bathroom sink. Almost lost it forever, haha.

Last Saturday, we slept in the church because we had a practice for the upcoming DVBS (Daily Vacation Bible School) and since we live far from the church, we decided to just sleep there instead of go home late in the evening just to go back there early Sunday morning. Gastos sa oras at pamasahe, haha).

WAHMa-Rama: My Daily Thoughts (Week 1)

Hello! I was planning on doing something for my blog to make it more personal. As some of you may have noticed, I very seldom post on my blog this time, one of the reasons is that we don't have a helper anymore, so I have to enjoy and spend more time with Nate :), which is of course, the most rewarding job of all.

On the other hand, I don't want my blog to die. So I am planning on ways to organize my blog and plan for the post frequency. I need to manage my time to be able to do all these. But for now, I want to be able to share my daily thoughts, compile them and post them altogether at the end of the week. WAHMa-Rama: some of my thoughts this week as a WAHM who's into DRAMA, lol! So let's get started! :)

My first Zalora Shopping Experience

About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I was given a 500 worth of discount coupon by Zalora and I was so excited to do my very first shop. Of course, as many of us know, Zalora is one of the leading and reliable online stores nowadays. I know a few friends who love to shop at Zalora and I can't blame them, my first shopping experience was a good one!

So since I'm thrifty, I wanted to try to shop without spending anything other than the coupon's amount. I looked for products with price that'd cost no more than 500 pesos. And since I'm now a mother, Nate is always first on the list, lol! And this was what I found:

I've so long been wanting to update my blog, the colors, the fonts, etc. I thought it would be difficult and time consuming but I'm happy I was able to complete it in about 45 mins! It wasn't colorful as it was before but I've been wanting to do just 2 or 3 main colors on my blog, with white being the dominant color. This isn't really what I wanted for now, I want to do more tweaks on the fonts but I don't have the whole day to sit and update it so this is it for now.

To the Person who Raised us up...

Meet my father (photo below), he's a farmer and a pastor. When we were young, we knew him as a loving but a strict father. He disciplined us when needed. I remember I was spanked several times back then! lol!

Then we started growing up and began to see more of his loving and caring side. I was wrong. The person I thought was super strict was instead an quiet, simple and understanding father.

I liked how we were brought up by our parents. Even though it was so painful every time I'd get spanked before, I believe that helped us in becoming who we are now.

Today, that person turned 55 years old. I joked on him on the phone and told him, "5 years nalang, may 20% discount kana" (5 more yrs and you'll get 20% discount already)! He laughed so hard! haha.

Sundayvotion: Count your Blessings

"Count your blessings" is one of the hyms I love to sing during worship service in our church. This hymn is wonderfully written by Johnson Oatman, Jr. Every time this song is sang in the church, I am reminded to be grateful and thankful for all that I receive.

Sometimes, with the trials that come our way, our vision to see the good side of life is blocked by all the negative things happening around us. That makes us not see and appreciate the smaller things we enjoy in life. Let me share few of my favorite lines of the song:

When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.

As many would say, "count your blessings, not the bad things". It is only when we count our blessings: big or small, that we can have joy and contentment in life. What's are the blessings on your list today? :)

First DIY Haircut Experience

Nate's last haircut experience was horrible and I don't want him to go through all that again. I was unable to document his previous barber shop experience with a kiddie barber shop because I didn't have photos and it wasn't so pleasant, he was just wailing the entire 5 mins or more, it was very frustrating for me (and I'm sure for him too). It was nowhere his very first haircut experience at an adult barber shop.

So, with the help of some Youtube tutorials, I found the courage to try to cut his hair by myself, at home. It wasn't easy, it wasn't perfect, it was funny and time consuming, but we made it, haha. I need more practice though, it wasn't done well. So yesterday, before going to church, I had to put gel on his hair so it would stick and the badly done haircut could be hidden. haha. Well, for now, at least, his hair's shorter.

I think it's a lot better to do it this way than to take him to the barber shop for now. At least this one's inexpensive and I'll learn to cut hair as well! haha. Pwede na ako magpatayo ng barber shop pag na perfect ko 'to. lol!

Behold, the before and after haircut :)

Because of Nate's previous horrible experience in a kiddie parlor during his last haircut, I know he would not want to be taken to the barber shop (kiddie or adult) anymore. Problem is, his hair's too long already. I have no choice but to "learn" (or I think) "try" to cut his hair. The key was 1 full jar of chocolate, 1 full jar of Stick-O, and a pocketful of "uto" so we could finish the session. haha. My first DIY haircut attempt was successful but don't ask about the result, lol! I'm so sorry Nate, hayaan mo na, hahaba naman uli yang buhok mo e. hahaha! #pahak #dipantay #gupitpamore

Yellow April!!! :)

It's official! It's April! Summer is super here already! Everybody's planning to go and have fun in the beach, pools and other nice places and here we are, staying at home for now. Lol! Well, what's "not so" nice about Summer? It's the fact that it's super duper hot already! Seriously, when I check my phone's time and it's 11 am, I'd get a notification that the ultraviolet radiation is so high and that I should stay inside.

I'm sure we all can agree to that, everybody's busy looking for things to do just to cool themselves down, sometimes a stroll to the mall (where the AC is free, lol), or a picnic to parks, the list goes on! We're fortunate because even though it's too hot here in the house already, we can all stay downstairs during daytime and don't feel too hot because we live in a 2-storey house (thank you Lord!)

I am a Filipino-born and raised in the Philippines, never been to any other country and is used to a tropical climate since that's what we have here in the PH. Many of us want to travel and I am not an exception to that! lol.

If you ask me where I'd like to travel, I don't have an exact place in mind but I would always think of places with cozy winters. I loooove to experience winter even just for once. Sure we've been to Baguio twice but I'm pretty sure a winter's still a lot different.

When I see my friends' pictures on my newsfeed enjoying the snow, I would immediately think: "I wish I could go there in the future too". Well, for now, these are nothing but dreams & illusions but I hope, one day, if God (and the budget) permits, I can visit any place with snow and feel the snow for the very first time! lol!
