GuitarTalk: Different Guitar String Types

Not that I’m a guitar expert but being someone who’s been exposed to guitars since I was young, I can say that I have a more knowledge that those average people when it comes to guitars. Today, we learn about different guitar strings.

When I was young, I thought that guitars only have one type of string.. When I was older, I learned that guitars have other different types of strings.

1. Nylon
My son’s guitar has nylon strings, so that he won’t get any string cuts.

Nylons are good when it comes to sustain. It doesn’t rust so it lasts longer. Nylons also have easy Vibrato sound and it has a balanced rich sound. However, nylons aren’t that loud.

2. Carbon
Carbon strings are loud, long tasting and stable when it comes to turning. On the other hand, carbons have inconsistent intonation, short sustain and don’t have a very rich sound.

3. Titanium

Titanium strings have amazing sustains and easy vibrato but it has brittle quality and when it comes to tuning, it is temperature sensitive.

You can ask guitar center's assistants for more info about guitar strings and what's best for you, or you can also head to your local guitar shop. :)
