29 Reasons to Praise God on my 29th birthday

I am writing this from the comfort of our humble home here in our little hometown, Concepcion, where there is no internet connection and has a very limited access to a cellular site. As I write this, I am surrounded by a rice field, lots of chirping chickens, and a cat that loves to eat junk foods (I’m not even kidding, haha!). When I am here, I experience a “forced” social media detox, lol.

30 Thank You's on Your 30th

Today is the day the love of my life turns 30.

Waaah! Dalawa nalang mawawala na sa kalendaryo, haha!

Unfortunately, he's still not with us to celebrate his natal day. Nevertheless, we still celebrate and praise God for His goodness in Dane's life. Because of this, I'm writing 30 thank you's to the man I vowed to spend the rest of my life.

From North to South ♥

After two years of not seeing my family in person, Nate and I are finally here in the Southern part of the Philippines, all the way from the North (San Mateo) to reunite with them for the holiday!

That's the happy part. :)

Why Amber Necklaces Work on Teething Babies

Have you heard about amber teething necklaces? I have back when Nate was still a baby. There was this YouTube vlogger that I used to follow and she was saying so many good things about the amber teething necklace. In fact, she has many videos with her son wearing the teething necklace before when the baby was teething. I was planning on getting one for Nate but at that time, I just didn't know where I could get one.
All we want as mothers are to make our babies feel better when they are in pain. Even though science has debunked myths that teething is painful, many medical professionals continue to stand by parents who know their baby is having trouble with their first few teeth

FIVE Bittersweet Married Years

I'm definitely not letting this day pass without writing a post about Dane and I's 5th wedding anniversary. Haha. Oh, it feels like it was just yesterday...

Book Review: Diary of a Pulubi by Chinkee Tan

This year is a turning point in my life when it comes to financial literacy. Before I was just contented with telling myself, "Ah, para lang yan sa mayayaman ang investing, 'di namin afford 'yan", or "parang 'di ko yata maiintindihan ang bagay na 'to kahit kailan, mukhang complicated e" and all.

Thanks to a few friends and bloggers, I finally came to a decision to start reading and learning about finances and investing this year.

Tingnan mo naman, another year is about to end and soon enough we'll all be saying hello to another year again!

I've said it so many times, I will say it again: time flies!

Well, moms like us are tough and always on-the-go. So yeah, bring it on, December! Kahit gaano pa kabusy 'yan, di ka namin susukuan! Agree, moms? :)

Purchases Using my Rewards Cards

I have a few rewards cards that I use on my purchases to get points, just like the majority of moms here in the Philippines. :) I don't really think about redeeming my points because I thought they were too low to use as payment. However, the past weekend was different. A purchase in SM San Mateo made me decide to check the points on my other rewards cards so I could use them for my purchases instead.

The sooner you realize there is no way to avoid cleaning your house, the better. If you still haven’t fallen into the habit of cleaning your house regularly, there’s no time like now to start changing your ways. The truth is that people who enjoy tidying are rare, and most of us have just accepted the fact that it has to be done, in order for us to feel good in our own home. When it comes to secret weapons to keeping your home clean and tidy, here are a few that could truly help you with your chores.

Max Ehrmann's Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Why Do Bloggers Blog?

Since the day I was actively blogging (2014), I have helped two friends start their own blogs. The first person was Melisa who was so hesitant at first but is still blogging even up to now. The second one is my friend, Sham, who just posted her very first travel post yesterday. Girl, I tell you, this lady's first post is waaay better than mine when I started my blog, haha!

My TOOTHful Story + What to Expect When Getting Braces

The evolution of my teeth from 2015 - 2017
Bilang katuwaan, I call myself "toothful" before (from the word "thoughtful"). A term we call someone "full of teeth" because I have a very crooked teeth. At tanggap ko, lol.  I was OK with it. Parang naging trademark ko na sya. haha.

THE CULPRIT: Takot ako magpabunot ng ngipin nung bata pa ako. In our hometown, 'di uso ang dentist. 'Yung tatay namin ang nagbubunot ng mga ipin namin.

The Pros and Cons of Rescheduled Flights

Our flight schedules with Cebu Pacific this coming December have been rebooked not once, not twice but thrice now. Will it be rescheduled again? That I do not know, we'll see.

Life Lately...

Once again, I took a break from blogging (and even posting on my social media). I just don't feel like doing any of it lately. Could be my hormones, lol!

If you have been reading my blog for quite a while, you know that I take a pause from writing here. After all, blogging is not a race nor a competition. For me, it is an online journal that I can use every time I want to share tidbits of my life.

Wауѕ tо Get Prеgnаnt with a Boy

Nate was planned, his gender was not. It was God's gift. Because of my job, I know that there are ways to boost the chances of getting pregnant with a boy. Dane and I were not really that particular about the gender when we found out I was prego.

However, there are some couples who want a specific gender for their child. There is a thing called gender selection now (Google "Chrissy Teigen and John Legend Gender Selection", you're welcome! hehe). This thing though, is too expensive, only those who are filthy rich can afford. There are more natural ways a couple can do to increase their chances of getting pregnant with a boy.

God's Forgiveness of the Hardest Sins

Just earlier today, Dane and I had a heated discussion about a sin that I've done in the past. I didn't want him bringing up an issue that was in the past and already settled in the past. But today, for some reason, our regular chit-chat brought us to the issue again. It was one of the things I regret doing but can't do anything about anymore. But it's been done and all we have to do is move on and strive not to do it again.

How to Enhance Our Inner Beauty

We had a local women's fellowship yesterday afternoon, after our church worship service. I'll make a separate post about it soon. This fellowship is a gathering of moms or wives, like me. We try to do this every 3 months so we can bond through games, God's word, and worship.

Our last fellowship in June and yesterday was, of course, great too! They suggested that I should be their speaker. For someone who is among the youngest in the group, I was hesitant at first -- what can I share with these people who are 10 years (or more) older than me?

NSO Helpline Order Cancellation

Ever since I got married, especially now that I have Nate, I request NSO-related documents online. It's a lot more expensive since the payment is doubled but if I think of the hassle that I have to go to (think queues, time wasted, fare, food orders when I get hungry, Nate tagging along) just get an NSO- (now PSA-) authenticated documents, doing it online is still waaaaaay more convenient.

That Thing Called Phimosis

Disclaimer: You may find this post with TMI (too much info).

Last Monday, Nate had to be admitted to the hospital again. It's his second time this year. And although the stay was a lot shorter this time (24 hrs), the bill was almost the same as the time he had pneumonia.

Nate's Kidzooona Shangri-La Experience

Two Saturdays ago, I had to leave Nate for a 5-hour. Since it's a freelancing event, I wanted to be there alone so I can listen attentively without worrying about Nate getting bored or hungry, etc.

5 Things I Learned at the Trade Secrets MNL

It was my pleasure to be a part of the recently concluded Trade Secrets MNL last Saturday in Makati. Although I arrived 1.5 hours late and missed two speakers, I still learned a lot. Me being late is a completely different story which has something to do with my problem with directions so we'll not dwell on that, lol!  It was a tiring day but I didn't go home empty-handed. Or should I say empty-minded? lol.

LDR Diary: Day 730 of 730

I've used this photo several times on this blog already.

This was Dane two years ago today. It was the day he turned his back on us and leave to fly for KSA. The day when all Nate did was run around the place. At 1 year and 4 months, he didn't understand what was going on.

How to Enable Cash on Delivery (COD) Option for Shopee Sellers

Just recently, I started selling items in Shopee. Most of them are Nate's stuff that he doesn't need anymore, mostly clothes. I've had two completed transactions so far and I got a fair amount of money from Nate's destash which I plan to add to his savings.

Shopee is a good place to sell, you just snap your photos and leave it there, soon enough you'll get an inquiry from customers. Perfect for people like me who just want to destash a few items.

Trade Secrets Manila

Nowadays, more and more people want to want to learn how to start earning at the comforts of their homes. Working-at-home allows us to work without worrying about the heavy traffic, keeps us away from the dangers while going to work and it enables us to spend more time with our loved ones with the big chunk of travel time we can use to do other things.

Life Lately: Healing and Extended KSA Stay

Last week, I was down with colds and Nate with a cough. I gave myself a time off blogging to heal and take care of Nate. Praise God we are both healed now. Tomorrow, we'll go back to Nate's pediatrician for a follow-up. I hope everything goes well tomorrow.

On Call, BRB

Nate and I have been sick since late last week. Although I have recovered already, Nate's situation got worse. With that, I decided to take him to the hospital earlier today. His Pedia said he has Urinary Tract Infection and pneumonia (again, even after he had a pneumonia vaccine shot).

He was almost admitted to the hospital, good thing, the just recommended meds. Thank goodness! Akala ko maadmit na naman! Siguro 'di ganun kalala ang sakit? Nonetheless, I hope he gets better, I know he will, with God's (the greatest physician's) help. The weather nowadays is making many people sick again. I've seen so many people having either a cough or colds when I go out. So, let's all take care of ourselves. In the mean time, I will be on hiatus in blogging until things get better.

Until then!

Life Lessons from Shoes

People love shoes. I mean, who doesn't anyway? On TV, we see celebrities showcasing their thousand pairs of shoes and it's incredible how many pairs they get when we only have two feet. Lol!

No, I'm not writing this to judge them, haha! They're celebrities and part of their job is to look presentable most, if not all of the time. I'm writing this to talk about the lessons I learned along the way that is related to shoes.

Wednesday Wreview: Vanilla Cupcake Bakery Trinoma

What's good about meeting with co-bloggers? Not only that you get to talk about something you are all interested in which is, of course, blogging, they also understand that you need to go somewhere you've never been yet so you can review it. Lol!

From Head to Post: Tools I Use in Blogging

If I am to compare my blog posts now versus when I started blogging, I can say 100% that my blogs are a lot better now. Although most of my posts are still personal, I want to be able to help others at the same time as well.

What started as an online diary is now something I consider an additional source of income. No, not a big amount if you ask. I'm not a famous blogger, lol! But with everything happening online, even a blog that's not so well-known as mine can go worldwide! And this is why I'm trying to post helpful posts every now and then. Aside from that, I also want my blog to get more search results in return.

10 Reasons to Thank God for August 2017

Other people believe that August is a month of bad luck. During this month, they don't get married, start a business, move to a new house and more because of fear that something bad might happen.

I don't personally believe in luck. What I do believe, though, is God's will. So I do not fear the month of August. In fact, to take the negativity away from my post yesterday, today, I'm counting my blessings for this month. And I'm naming them one by one.

On Being Judgmental

A lot of times I am judgmental.

I try not to but there are times that my sinful nature would kick in and auto-react negatively on things. So yes, call me judgmental. I admit that.

But here's a clue: Saying "you're judgmental" to someone is actually a symptom of being judgmental.

How to Enjoy a Hike Even More

Hiking is not what I usually do. I think I only do it at least once in a year. Last Monday, we had an unplanned hike. Well, for them it was planned, I just decided I'd tag along by the time they were about to leave. We hiked to the gate of Timberland Heights which is about 3.5 kilometers away from where we live.

The Little Ice Cream Worker

This was supposed to be just an add-on to my previous post about Nate's Kidzooona experience. But I realized the post is loaded with photos already. So, instead, I decided to create a separate post about a short story of a young ice cream worker. This is inspired by Nate's happiness when he was in the ice cream shop in Kidzooona. :)

Nate's Kidzooona Experience

Last Saturday, we were in Eastwood in Libis, QC for a birthday celebration (belated happy 1st birthday, Mikhail!). I was thankful I got invited because it was our first time in a long time to be back in Eastwood. The last time we were there was in February 2015 when Nate was still a baby.

No Goodbyes, Just 'till we meet again'

This is Kuya Lyndon. For the past few days, I was feeling sad because of him. Last week, we learned that he had a stroke while driving on his way home. He was fighting for his life for a few days until around 6 PM last Sunday when he went to his eternal home to be with the Lord.

Is Working at Home for You?

Nowadays, more and more people opt to work at home. While many find it a lot more convenient, especially for moms like me, to work at home, there is a possibility that working at home may not be for you. Here are things to consider when working at home.

First-Time Parents Workshop Series

We all have our first times. First times can be exciting, overwhelming and embarrassing sometimes but they're always worth remembering, aren't they?

Getting pregnant is one of the most wonderful things that happen in our lives. And most of us cannot forget our first reaction when we found out we're having a baby. Mine turned out epic because even though I was somehow expecting I was pregnant, the first sight of that positive pregnancy test is still shocking! However, the rest filled with excitement. It was a joy for me to share pictures of my baby bump in social media.

3 Ways to Handle Picky Eaters

I have two godchildren who are very good when it comes to food - they eat almost everything served on them! And as a mother, I am so impressed by these kids. Remember Xiaoman, the baby foodie who went viral? I bet you've already seen her online, but if you haven't yet, here's a video clip (sino ba namang hindi matutuwa 'pag nakita 'tong batang 'to 'di ba?)

My Fears as a Wife

I've been a wife for almost five years now. We're turning five this coming December. To be married to Dane is one of the greatest blessings I have received from God. He is the perfect man for me and I love him every day.

Babye, July!

As I sit and think of the days, I can't help but be amazed at how quickly time passes. Today is the last day of July and before we even know it, we're already welcoming 2018. This month was like the other months for us, more of waiting, praying and hoping that Dane's homecoming will be tomorrow. However, it wasn't just that. It was waiting and much more.

Car Safety Tips for Babies and Toddlers

**Sponsored post**

Back when I was working for Convergys, my first account would've been GE Motors. Unfortunately, we were reassigned to a different account for some reason. Whether that's a blessing or a curse, I do not know. But if there's one thing I could wish, I wish I stayed longer with the account - long enough to know more about cars, dealership and other car terms and info.

The One Minute Marriage Cleanse

Dane and I's video call yesterday was filled with tears (at least on my part) and hard decision making that we needed to do. No, he didn't do anything wrong, lol. We were discussing (again) whether he'd return to KSA or not.

This 2-year contract was the most challenging years we had in our marriage and just to think of doing it again for another year or two, naiiyak na ako! But yes, we had to talk about it and come up with a decision (again).
